The donation is part of a 3-year, $6,000 commitment to support students.
DES MOINES, Iowa – With summer school around the corner, Des Moines Public Schools’ Central Campus will provide summer school students with more hands-on experience in the animal agriculture industry thanks to a donation from Seaboard Foods. The donation is part of a 3-year commitment to support students interested in animal agriculture. The program exposes non-traditional students with limited agriculture and food production knowledge insight into the livestock and animal protein industry. Seaboard Foods presented a $2,000 check to the Central Campus program today.
“I am very proud to contribute to the ongoing education of young people interested in careers in animal agriculture. Sometimes paying basic fees can mean paving the way for a successful career in our industry,” said Kevin Sanders, operational support manager at Seaboard Foods.
The total contribution of $6,000 over three years will benefit the school, allowing students to receive education, training and explore opportunities in the agriculture industry. Seaboard Foods, with farm operations and a feed mill in the area, is committed to supporting schools and community organizations in areas where they operate.
“On behalf of Des Moines Agri-Science, we are extremely grateful for this generous gift. I hope that these funds will lead to student opportunities that will benefit them as they enter the world of agriculture. We are pleased to partner with a company like Seaboard Foods who makes it their mission to impact the communities they work as well as prepare the next generation of agriculturalist,” said Kevin Anderson, agriculture instructor & FFA advisor.
The Central Campus program serves more than 2,000 students in the Des Moines and surrounding school districts with career education. It features several career introduction program specialties including Agriculture Science, Food Processing and Horticulture.
